Hey!

My name is Jonathan Li, I'm studying Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at UC Berkeley. I like building things involving Math, CS, and Data Science. I'm currently super interested in Computational Mathematics, Abstract Algebra, and Mixed Reality.

This past summer, I was at Apple as a Software Engineering Intern in the Vision Products Group, where I built Python and C++ pipelines that parse crash logs, classify failure modes, and dispatch agent-based repair loops that propose fixes and validate them on VMs before they ship. Previously, I worked at Scale AI as a Product Management Intern and Airspace Technologies as a Data Analyst Intern.

These days I'm back at Berkeley and doing research on two fronts. I'm a machine learning researcher at Stanford AI Lab (SAIL), where I work on AI cybersecurity benchmarks — building the containerized environments and evaluation infrastructure used to measure what autonomous agents can actually do. I also recently joined a project at UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design with Prof. Yehuda Kalay, simulating emergency egress in high-rise residential buildings. We combine discrete-event simulation with reinforcement learning to model how individual residents actually decide to evacuate during a fire, rather than assuming one average occupant — so a floor plan can be stress-tested long before it gets built.

In my free time, I enjoy playing volleyball, golfing, traveling, and trying new foods.
